Brussels, 19/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - In the framework of a structural dialogue between the regions and the European Commission, Commission President José Manuel Barroso and Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn met representatives of the local and regional authorities on Thursday 18 September.
The President of the Committee of the Regions, Michel Lebrun, and seven other representatives of regional associations, such as EUROCITIES, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) and the Assembly of European Regions (AER), took part in this final exchange of views with the outgoing Commission (see also other article). Lebrun told Barroso and Hahn that it is vital to exclude local and regional investments carried out in the framework of programmes financed by the structural funds from the budget deficit indicators under the Stability and Growth Pact (see also EUROPE 11155).
