Brussels, 19/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - European Commissioner for the Digital Agenda Neelie Kroes believes it is a real challenge entrusting the single digital market to two commissioners. European Commission President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker plans to confer the post of Commissioner for the Digital Economy to Günther Oettinger, but Oettinger will work under the supervision of a vice-president (Andrus Ansip), who is in charge of the wider Single Digital Economy (see EUROPE 11155). In an interview with online media organisation viEUws, Kroes nevertheless says that she believes giving greater importance to dialogue in the decision-making process is a good idea. In Kroes' opinion, several fields in the European digital economy should be given special attention by her successors - cyber security, copyright, supporting the development of start-ups, fostering digital jobs and getting more women on the boards of digital companies.
