29/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - Complaint about circumvention of taxes on American buyer-ethanol. The European association of ethanol producers (ePure) submitted a complaint to the European Commission on 29 January against the circumvention, via Norway, of anti-dumping duty imposed by the EU in February 2013 on American exports of bio-ethanol. A new pattern of trade, which has been denounced by ePure, sees the US now exporting major volumes of ethanol to Norway, whose imports of American ethanol have increased tenfold in a single year, making it as important an outlet for this product as Brazil. At the same time, exports of ethanol from Norway to the EU have increased considerably, mainly in the form of ethanol-petrol blends (E48), sold at prices considerably lower than prices for European ethanol fuel.
