28/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - Lithuania applies to join euro. On Monday 27 January 2014, Lithuania applied to join the euro. The European Commission and ECB will each publish a report on convergence in June, and the Eurogroup and the Ecofin Council will decide whether the country will be allowed to join. Lithuania applied to join the euro back in 2007, but was unable to do so because of its high inflation. (MB/transl.fl)
