Brussels, 28/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - The upcoming visit of China's president to Brussels on 29 March - the first ever visit of a Chinese president to the capital of the EU - was high on the agenda of the fourth session of the EU-China strategic dialogue. “We have been discussing today how best to use that opportunity to further advance this [strategic] partnership” (adopted in 2003) both on the 2020 strategic agenda for bilateral cooperation (adopted at the last summit in late 2013), and on cooperation on international and global issues, said High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton after her meeting with Chinese State Councillor Yang Jiechi. Ashton hailed the support that China brought the EU in the E3+3 negotiations with Iran. The parties also welcomed last week's launch of negotiations for an investment agreement, saying they expected the negotiations to “progress swiftly”.
