26/01/2012 (Agence Europe) - EU Special Representative. On Wednesday 25 January, the Council appointed Samuel Zbogar from Slovenia to the post of Special Representative to Kosovo. He will be performing two different roles because he is already the head of the EU's office in Kosovo, a post to which he was appointed on 21 December 2011. This former foreign affairs minister will assume his role on 1st February 2012 until 30 June 2013. Zbogar's appointment and the fact that he also works as the head of the EU's office in Kosovo “clearly show the importance the EU attaches to the region's European future”, explained EU High Representative Catherine Ashton. Zbogar will seek to promote a stable, viable, peaceful, democratic and multi-ethnic Kosovo, whilst helping develop regional stability and co-operation in the Western Balkans. (CG/transl.fl)
