26/01/2012 (Agence Europe) - Arrests at COP 15 illegal. The five mass arrests of climate protesters during global climate conference in Copenhagen (COP 15, in December 2009) have been found by the National Court of Denmark to be illegal. On 25 January, this court upheld the decision of the City Court of Copenhagen. The National Court also ruled that human rights were infringed on 12 December when police maltreated those arrested and subjected them to degrading treatment. Compensation paid out to all those who have filed complaints on time is expected to run into millions of Danish kroner. Those who were wrongfully arrested but who have not yet lodged a complaint can contract the Danish legal group RUSK at contact@rusklaw.org, leaving their names, addresses, nationalities and the date and time of their arrests.
