Brussels, 26/01/2012 (Agence Europe) - On the initiative of Jacek Saryusz-Wolski (EPP, Poland), 18 MEPs from 8 non-eurozone countries wrote to European Council President Herman Van Rompuy on Thursday 26 January, calling on him to do all in his power to avoid any break up of the architecture of the European Union. In the letter, a copy of which has been obtained by Agence Europe, the MEPs call for an equal right to attend eurozone summits for “current and future members of the eurozone”. The current form of the draft treaty, which is not to Poland's liking, makes provision for non-eurozone member states being able to take part in at least one summit per year. No UK or Danish MEPs signed the letter. (MB/transl.rt)
