01/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - S&D Group fully supports Libyan rebels. At the conference on the “Road toward Democracy in Libya”, held on Wednesday 29 June with the representatives of the Transitional National Council (TNC, Benghazi), the S&D Group at the European Parliament voiced its full support for the Libyan rebels. Expressing the support of European Socialists and Democrats for those fighting for democracy and freedom, Ana Gomes, the rapporteur on Libya at the European Parliament, said: “Once the Libyan forces fighting to liberate their country from dictatorship gain control of Tripoli, the priorities will be to ensure security for all citizens, promote national reconciliation and support a transitional government in preparing the road for democracy”.
