Brussels, 01/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - 42 eco-innovation projects were selected by the European Commission on 30 June to receive funding worth €35 million under the 2010 Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP), Environment Commissioner Janez Potoènik has announced. The projects cover a wide range of environmental innovations that have one thing in common: they all contribute to protecting our precious environment while sharpening Europe's competitive edge. They were selected from a large number of projects competing for funding under a call for proposals launched in 2010.
Applications under the 2011 call for proposals are already being received and the commissioner is “delighted to be able to say that the funding available for 2011 is €38 million”, an increase of €3 million. Selection of projects will take place in 2012. The CIP has a budget of €200 million for the period from 2008 to 2013. (A.N./transl.rt)
