Brussels, 01/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - As the EU considers opening talks with a view to a free trade agreement with Indonesia, an aviation agreement was signed on 29 June in order to establish the legal bases for developing aviation relations between the Republic of Indonesia and the EU member states. Nineteen EU member states have already sealed bilateral agreements with Indonesia. The new European deal will allow these to be coordinated and brought into line with EU legislation. Most importantly, the agreement will remove nationality restrictions in bilateral air services agreements between the 19 EU member states and Indonesia, thereby allowing, for now, any EU airline to operate flights between Indonesia and any EU member state in which it is established.
