Brussels, 13/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - Speaking on Thursday 13 January on behalf of the EU, Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, expressed “concern” at the recent developments in Lebanon where the government coalition has broken down. This situation arose further to the resignation of ministers in relation to the Hezbollah Shiite movement brought into question in the investigation on the assassination of the former prime minister, Rafiq Hariri, the father of the current head of government. Ashton said: “I want to reiterate our support for the Government of National Unity. I call on all political actors to work constructively to seek a negotiated solution to the current situation. Dialogue and stability are essential to respond to today's events in the interest of the Lebanese people”. (F.B./transl.jl)
