13/01/2011 (Agence Europe) - Creation of loan guarantee fund for cinema. The European Commission has announced the creation of a loan guarantee fund aimed at facilitating access by film products to bank loans. The MEDIA production guarantee fund, which has a budget of €8 million, will be jointly run by the Commission and two operators whose knowledge of the sector goes back a long way. The fund will provide support for film producers throughout Europe. It will, for example, help to cover a proportion of a loan in the event of non-payment by a producer due to bankruptcy.
