Commission pinpoints Finland and Sweden as failing to comply with urban wastewater directive

Brussels, 29/01/2010 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has initiated infringement proceedings against Finland and Sweden for failing to comply with the European directive on urban wastewater (Directive 91/271/EC).

A formal letter of notice was addressed to both these member states for failing to put in place the required infrastructure for collecting and treating urban waste water by 31 December 2005 in towns with a population of 2,000-15,000. In towns of over 10,000 inhabitants,...
