28/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 23 November 2007, the Commission announced that it had authorised two acquisitions. LOMO Group (LOMO) of Germany which operates petrol stations and motorway service areas is being bought by US investment company Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. In the other deal, German companies Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbH (BENTELER) and SGL Technologies GmbH (SGLT) are acquiring joint control of newly created company, BENTELER-SGL Automotive Carbon Composites GmbH & Co. KG. BENTELER develops and produces car components, modules and systems. SGLT produces carbon fibres, aerospace and industrial composites, expanded graphite, carbon ceramic brake discs and fuel cell components. The joint venture will develop, produce and distribute components for the car industry. Both deals were examined under the simplified merger review procedure. (C.D.)
