17/12/2003 (Agence Europe) - The first "Alumnus Prize" of the College of Europe in Bruges has been awarded to Poul Skytte Christoffersen, who has been Danish Ambassador to Rome for the past few months, after having been Denmark's Permanent Representative with the European Union. Mr Christoffersen, of the 1972 Coudenhove-Kalergi year (when his country joined the European Community), was mainly chosen for having contributed to the success of the latest Union enlargement, mainly during the Danish Presidency in the second half of 2002. The prize, attributed by a jury including Vaclav Havel and Javier Solana, also rewards the generosity and open-mindedness of Ambassador Christoffersen, to which his many friends in Brussels attest.
