Brussels, 30/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 25 June, the Council formally adopted the 3rd internal energy market liberalisation package and subsequently approved all the amendments adopted in last April's second reading by the European Parliament (EUROPE 9887). The texts for the acts are as follows: directive on common rules for production, transport, distribution and supply of electricity, abrogating directive 2003/54/EC; the directive on common rules for transport, distribution, supply and storage of natural gas, abrogating directive 2003//55/EC; the regulation establishing fair cross-border rules on trading electricity, abrogating regulation 1228/2003; the regulation establishing non-discriminatory rules to determine access conditions for the transport of natural gas and LNG and storage, abrogating regulation 1775/2005; the regulation setting up the energy regulators cooperation agency. These five acts will be applicable 18 months after publication in the Official Journal. (E.H./transl.rh)
