30/06/2009 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 30 June, the Commission approved the acquisition of Tiscali UK by Carphone Warehouse. Carphone Warehouse is a UK company selling mobile telephones and is also active in the United Kingdom as an internet access provider: this is the main sector of activity of Tiscali UK. The acquisition will create a major player in this market, which will become one of the main competitors to the incumbent operator BT. The Commission investigation concluded, however, that the merger would not endanger effective competition in the sector. (C.D./transl.rt)
