€24 million in aid for reform of sugar sector withheld from Fiji until legitimate government is in place

Brussels, 18/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - As no indication has been given that a legitimate government will be in place in Fiji by the end of the year, the European Commission has decided to cancel the allocation of €24 million earmarked to accompany the reform of the sugar sector in this ACP group (African/Caribbean/Pacific) country.
