With Lisbon Treaty, co-decision will become general rule for agriculture

Brussels, 11/05/2009 (Agence Europe) - When the Lisbon Treaty comes into effect, the European Parliament will co-legislate on an equal footing with the Council on all acts in the area of agriculture. The Lisbon Treaty, which has so far been formally adopted by 25 of the 27 member states provides for the extension of the co-decision procedure, which will become the “ordinary legislative procedure”, to agriculture.
