Large majority votes against forcing Austria and Hungary to lift bans on two GMO crops

Brussels, 02/03/2009 (Agence Europe) - Another snub has been given to the European Commission in its attempts to force Austria and Hungary to repeal their safeguard measures provisionally banning the cultivation of genetically modified maize which has been legally authorised in the European Union, following favourable opinions from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
