Vote to extend aid to fleet in outermost regions until end of 2011

Brussels, 23/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 21 October, the European Parliament voted to extend public aid to the fishing fleet registered in the outermost regions until 31 December 2011. The EP adopted the report by Pedro Guerreiro (GUE/NGL, Portugal) on the management of the fleet in these regions by 531 votes to 68, with 12 abstentions, thereby amending the initial proposal which was to extend aid until the end of 2009.
