Parliament opposes body scanners plan in airports

Brussels, 23/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - The proposal to bring in body scanners, which allow objects concealed beneath clothing to be detected, in EU airports has been strongly opposed by MEPs who fear serious repercussions for citizens' right to privacy. The European Commission intends shortly to propose that body scanners be included among the authorised passenger inspection methods in EU airports.
