Brussels, 17/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - Syria and the European Commission signed, on Thursday 11 September, a memorandum of understanding setting the 2008/2009 EU-Syria cooperation framework with €110 million in EU funds, the European Commission delegation in Damascus states. Syria has not yet signed an association agreement. The programme fixes a series of priorities agreed by the EU and the Syrian government. €30 million will be allocated to the reform programme for the public administration, justice and human rights bodies; €50 million will go to support economic reform and the private sector, and €40 million will be for social reforms.
