MEPs opposed to taking children's fingerprints

Brussels, 17/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - The members of the European Parliament's committee on civil liberties unanimously adopted a codecision report by Carlos Coelho (EPP-ED, Portugal) on Monday 15 September in which they agree that children under the age of 12 should no longer have to provide fingerprints for passports issued in the EU. Own passports, which also contain data on their parents, should however be issued in order to combat child trafficking, MEPs think. The EP will vote in...
