Brussels, 11/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 10 September, the Irish government presented the results of a study showing that the Irish people's lack of information on the Lisbon Treaty was the main reason why the new EU treaty was rejected during the referendum on 12 June 2008. The poll carried out at the end of July among a little over 2,000 people shows that 42% voted against the treaty because they were insufficiently informed about the context or the real significance of the text.
