Direct talks aimed at reuniting the island to start on Wednesday

Brussels, 02/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - The president of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias, and the leader of the Turkish Republic of Cyprus, Mehmet Ali Talat, are to meet this Wednesday 3 September at the disused airport of Nicosia (in the UN-controlled buffer zone) to launch direct negotiations with a view to reaching an agreement on reunification of the island.
