02/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - On 26 August, the European Commission adopted the document “The Agricultural Situation in the European Union - 2006 Report”. According to the report, output from farms was lower in 2006 than in 2005: down 4% in the crop sector and 1% in the animal sector. In both sectors, farmers received prices on average 2% lower in real terms. The number of farmers continued to decline, with 2% fewer in 2006 than the previous year. (L.C./transl.rt)
