Clearance for Nokia's acquisition of NAVTEQ

Brussels, 02/07/2008 (Agence Europe) - After carrying out an in-depth examination, the European Commission cleared, on Wednesday 2 July, the proposed acquisition of NAVTEQ (United States) by Nokia (Finland).

NAVTEQ provides navigable digital map databases, while Nokia is essentially a manufacturer of mobile telephones. The Commission's investigation was to assess whether the vertical integration of NAVTEQ into Nokia could lead to a significant restriction of competition within the European...
