Commission sends statement of objections to E.ON and Gaz de France suspected of gas market sharing

Brussels, 12/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 12 June the European Commission confirmed that it had sent a statement of objections to E.ON AG, E.ON Ruhrgas AG and Gaz de France (GDF) on the grounds of a suspected agreement between them. The Commission affirmed that they had reason to believe that each party had made commitments to staying outside the gas national markets of the other companies, which contravened rules of the EC Treaty on restrictive trade practices (Article 81).
