EU experts reject proposal authorising chicken disinfected in chlorinated water

Brussels, 03/06/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 2 June, the Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health unanimously rejected the proposal authorising the technique for disinfecting chicken carcasses in chlorinated water. All the experts voted against the text, except the British representative who abstained (EUROPE 9671). The Commission will “analyse the results” of the vote and the “motivation” behind the no vote.
