Brussels, 28/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission's campaign for more energy efficiency seeks to reduce CO2 emissions. The message in Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs' statement is directly addressed to European motorists, who are invited to display “a degree of common sense” by driving their cars in a more intelligent way. This campaign includes the participation of Europia, one of the partners in the campaign for sustainable energy in Europe, which provides clear advice for changing the behaviour of car drivers by cutting down on their fuel consumption. More than 45,000 petrol stations in 29 European countries are taking part in this “Save More than Fuel” campaign. Millions of pamphlets on reducing fuel consumption and developing responsible car driving will be made available to petrol station customers (additional information will be available on a website). An EU-Tube video will also be distributing some advice on safe and economical driving. This campaign is part of the Intelligent Energy - Europe (2003-06) programme, which aims to develop public awareness and encourage sustainable energy production and consumption.
