28/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - In Podgorica on Wednesday 28 May, The European Commission delivered a road map to Montenegro on easing the visa system. This document clearly sets out for the candidate country's authorities the measures to be taken so that all its nationals can soon be allowed to travel with no need for a visa. Since 1 January 2008, Montenegrin nationals have benefited from a visa facilitation agreement with the European Union. In February 2008, discussions on easing the visa regime began in Podgorica. The roadmap is the first stage in these discussions. Two Western Balkans states have recently taken delivery of similar documents: Serbia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYRM). The next country to receive a roadmap from the Commission will be Albania, at the start of June. (B.C.)
