Access to US market to be cornerstone of second phase of “Open Skies” agreement

Brussels, 15/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - In Brdo (Slovenia) on Thursday 15 May, the European Union and the United States officially kicked off negotiations on the second phase of the “Open Skies” agreement liberalising transatlantic air traffic (see EUROPE 9379). The two parties will battle it out on cabotage rights and relaxing restrictions on investment in foreign companies, which the EU wants, and the fresh proposals on liberalising investment put forward by the US.
