Commission investigates proposed acquisition of Jet service stations in Scandinavia by StatoilHydro

Brussels, 15/05/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 14 May, the European Commission opened a detailed investigation into Norwegian oil company StatoilHydro's proposed acquisition of Jet petrol stations in Scandinavia, currently owned by ConocoPhillips of the US. The Commission has serious doubts over the compatibility of the transaction with the single market, as it appears that it could limit competition on the motor fuel retail markets in Sweden and Norway.
