EU aid falls in 2007 - Commission exhorts member states to increase aid and keep promises

Brussels, 07/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - Figures show that development aid volume provided by EU Member States to poor countries has decreased for the first time since 2000 to € 46,1 billion (2006: € 47.7 billion). The global trend is also worrying. For the second year in a row, global aid provided by the 22 donors of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the OECD went down.
