07/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - The Council of European transport ministers adopted without debate on Monday 4 April conclusions on the first report by the European Commission on implementation of the Single Sky Legislation. It acknowledges the need to take further measures to improve performance. The Commission is invited to develop an overall approach system, in line with the gate to gate concept, to enhance safety, to improve ATM and to increase cost-efficiency. Also, the Council recognises that safety oversight functions need to be strengthened on the basis of increased cooperation between national supervisory authorities, as appropriate, through increased use of the Community method. The Commission is to present a legislative proposal this summer aimed at amending rules relating to the European Single Sky. (A.By.)
