Talks towards free-trade agreement will continue in second half of 2008, says Brazil's Celso Amorim

Brussels, 04/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - With matters at deadlock since October 2004 (EUROPE 8797 and 8812), negotiations towards a bilateral free-trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela) are set to resume in the second half of 2008, the head of Brazilian diplomacy, Celso Amorim, stated on Thursday 3 April. “According to some scenarios, we may be able to move forward more quickly with the EU in the second half of the year.
