For Court of Justice, refusal to allow life partners benefit from survivor's pension is direct discrimination based on sexual orientation

Brussels, 01/04/2008 (Agence Europe) - A life partner of the same sex can have the right to a widow's pension granted as part of the company pension scheme. It is up to the national judge to verify whether the surviving life partner is in a comparable situation to that of a spouse benefiting from the survivor's pension in question.
