WTO slams US and Canadian sanctions on EU goods in hormone-treated meat dispute

Brussels, 31/03/2008 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 31 March, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) published two rulings on trade disputes between the EU and Canada and the United States concerning sanctions imposed on EU goods by Canada and the US in 1999 in retaliation for EU restrictions on the imports of hormone-treated meat. In its ruling, the special WTO panel deciding on the case confirmed that the unilateral imposing of sanctions by Canada and the US following the adoption of new EU rules...
