07/11/2007 (Agence Europe) - Charlie McCreevy has announced that the Commission will adopt its new European strategy on the internal market on Tuesday 20 November (see EUROPE 9531). “The single market review, which is expected on the 20th of this month, will highlight what has worked well and what has not and what there is more to be done”, stated the European Commissioner in charge of the single market, at a conference on entrepreneurship and innovation organised by the think-tank “The Lisbon Council”. Launching a debate which is hoped to lead to decisions at the spring European Council of 2008, this review of the European internal market policy will indicate the vision which will guide the action of the Commission in this field and list the sectors, such as retail financial services and electronic communications, in which the single market remains fragmented and requires targeted initiatives.
