Luxembourg, 15/10/2007 (Agence Europe) - Hungarian legislation obliging companies to pay local taxation does not infringe the Sixth VAT Directive. This was the ruling of the European Court of Justice on 11 October, in answer to two Hungarian courts which had asked about local company taxation (Cases C-283/06 and C-312/06). The Court of Justice said the taxation in question did not concern VAT and was therefore not covered by Council Directive 77/388/EEC.
