07/09/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Centre of Enterprises with Public Participation and of Enterprises of General Economic Interest (CEEP) exclaims in a press release that “Europe must serve the public!”. The organisation welcomes the adoption of the Toubon Report on review of internal market strategy, which clearly calls for clarification of the legal status of services of general interest and social services of general interest. It invites the European Commission to draw the consequences of this political signal in its communication on the internal market due in November. It goes on to announce it will be taking part in the debate at the European Economic and Social Committee on 11 September with regard to the concrete measures needed to eliminate the uncertainty that prevails over the fate of SGI.
