02/08/2007 (Agence Europe) - A report from the EU's Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) published on 1 August shows that Hungary has set up a system for controlling transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) in small ruminants (sheep and goats), 'although it was not fully effective.' The experts do not rule out the possibility that lower numbers of TSE cases are detected among sheep than exist in reality because of generally underdeveloped epidemiological surveillance.
