EP wants ambitious policy combining protection of oceans and intelligent use of sea

Strasbourg, 12/07/2007 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 12 July, the European Parliament gave its backing to an ambitious common maritime policy, with the Commission due to adopt an action plan for the implementation of this policy on 10 October. The report on this policy by German Social Democrat MEP Willy Piecyk was adopted by a comfortable majority in the plenary session (520 votes for, 25 against, with 61 abstentions).
