Commission calls for European measures to be reinforced

Brussels, 29/01/2007 (Agence Europe): Following two accidents at sea which occurred recently in southern England and in the Messina Strait in Italy, Jacques Barrot, the commissioner for transport issues, published a press release last Friday, in which he calls for European measures for maritime safety to be tightened up, and for rapid progress to be made on the proposals made by the Commission in November 2005.
