THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) eu/future of europe

17/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - The “Confrontations Europe” organisation is to launch a tour of Europe, holding eight conferences in eight European capitals (Brussels, Berlin, Budapest, London, Madrid, Warsaw, Paris and Prague) between October 2006 and May 2007. In Berlin on 24 November, discussion will be on the identity of tomorrow's Europe, in Budapest on 15 December on the free movement of workers, in London on 26 January 2007 on Europe's need for enterprise engaged in globalisation, in Warsaw on 23 February on the economic dialogue for promoting industrial relations in Europe, in Paris on 25 March (anniversary of the Treaty of Rome) on a “Single Act for Projects”, in Madrid on 27 April on the knowledge society, and in Prague on 24 and 25 May on a project for all Europeans. In order to make Europeans rally together, Confrontations Europe suggests defining a new agenda for Europe around a Single Act for Projects. It considers it necessary to keep the advances contained in the constitutional treaty. For dossiers on which common policies are needed, Confrontations Europe cites energy, transport and logistics, education, training and vocational mobility as well as corporate governance. (mb)
