Brussels, 31/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - The EU and the Republic of Korea are expected formally to sign the agreement allowing South Korea to take part in the European satellite radio navigation system, Galileo, at the EU/South Korea Summit, to be held in Helsinki on 9 September. The agreement, which was concluded earlier this year after six months of negotiations, provides for scientific, commercial and industrial cooperation, as well as cooperation in standard certification (see EUROPE 9108). The Council is to adopt a decision on the signature of this agreement in late August, so that it can be signed on 9 September.
