In 2004, majority of Europeans preferred domestic holidays, almost 60% of trips made by private car and 23% by plane, according to Eurostat

Brussels, 24/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - As part of its series “Statistics in Focus, Industry, trade and services”, the EU statistical office, Eurostat, has just published two reports dealing with European tourist. The first focuses on “How Europeans go on holiday” and the second on “Summer tourism trends in 2005”. In a press release, Eurostat notes that in the EU in 2004, 57% of holiday trips of four nights or more were domestic, trips abroad accounted for 43% of holiday trips...
