New six-year fisheries agreement between EU and Mauritania

Brussels, 24/07/2006 (Agence Europe) - On 22 July, the European Commission, on behalf of the EU, initialled a new bilateral fisheries partnership agreement to replace the current protocol is due to expire on 31 July 2006. The new agreement will be in place for six years. A protocol, for a period of two years, renewable twice, will provide fishing opportunities in Mauritanian waters for 200 EU vessels on crustaceans (mainly shrimp), hake and other demersal (living near the sea floor),...
